I used this in a tub in my kids' bathroom right before giving my dogs a bath. Installation was super easy since I have a standard size drain. You literally just pop out the drain cover and insert the tubshroom instead. It does stick out above the floor of the tub but that doesn't bother me in the least because it isn't as if anyone is going to be standing there. The included plug makes it the work of a second to remove the tub shroom and insert the plug if I want to fill the tub.
On to the dog bathing. I have a pack of Golden Retrievers - two long haired, double coated full sized goldens and a smaller medium sized black mix whose mom was a golden Retriever. All three shed like mad. I brush and groom their coats before giving them a bath to try and cut down on the sheer amount of hair that fills up the drain. The tub shroom seems to have caught every single hair that came off these guys! I had to remove and clean it a couple of times for each dog bath but it is so much better than having that hair clog up inside the drain.
Cleaning it and removing the hair was super easy. The hair really does wrap around the mesh tube and all you have to do is lift it off and toss it. The domed top does catch some hair as well to allow for longer drainage before you have to clean the stem.
As to opening the package, this one is no different than most. I've found that cutting open the side allows you to open the plastic packaging that keeps each part in place. Once you open up the plastic all the pieces come free at once. No trauma involved.
The materials really seem to be of excellent quality. Except for the silicone seal, everything is made of high grade steel. I also own two sinkshrooms and for my kitchen sink and disposer and could not be happier with the products from this company.

Happy Tubs Are Here Again
Despite the fact that I clean the drain after each shower, and despite the fact that I use enzyme sticks to keep the pipes clear, a lot of har ends up slipping through and eventually clogs the pipes. Often it's a simple home snaking job. Other times a plumber with a jumbo snake needs to be called.
We installed the TubShroom (easy installation, btw) and it catches lots and lots of hair. It is easy to clean out and a LOT easier than snaking the drain.
This one is a keeper.

Works pretty well!
I've put the strainer on our bath tub and the stopper on our sink. Both items works pretty well. I just hope the rubber at the bottom would not fall off anytime soon due to frequent rinsing of the strainer.
